Tracey Singleton, also known as, Spacey T, is a multi-instrumentalist, ex-lead guitarist from FISHBONE, and a pioneer of the 80s LA Metal Scene. Spacey T. founded the band SOUND BARRIER, which became the first All-Black Heavy Metal band to be signed to a major label, MCA records. Tracey has played with some of his musical heroes, including the guitar legend from FUNKADELIC, EDDIE HAZEL, who introduced him to producer JEFFERY BOWEN, who invited Tracey to record with BONNIE POINTER of the legendary POINTER SISTERS on Motown Records. Included in these historical sessions were his musical heroes. SLY & FREDDIE STONE. Eddie Hazel and Spacey T became best friends and continued their deep friendship and mutual love of music until Eddie Hazel passed in 1992. Tracey has performed, recorded, and toured internationally with numerous artists, including the original Bass player of FUNKADELIC, BILLY BASS NELSON, funk rock band MOTHERS FINEST, one of his best friends, HR/Human Rights, the lead singer of the legendary band BAD BRAINS, MANDRILL, MALLIA FRANKLIN Queen of Funk & the Funk Disciples, TALIB KWELI, GUITAR SHORTY & dUg PINNICK of KING’S X, to name a few. He has also been featured in rock documentaries, such as ELECTRIC PURGATORY, EVERYDAY SUNSHINE & INSIDE LA METAL, and is currently working on his solo album (A Funky Djentleman). For the past 15 years, Tracey Spacey T Singleton has been teaching music lessons to children in Los Angeles, recognized by the LA City Council for his contribution to the Arts and the youth of Los Angeles. As a result, he was awarded the California Arts Council Artist Resident Grant for 11 years, supporting his teaching in two LAUSD middle schools. Spacey T. is also the 8-string guitarist for the hard-rock duo Praise the Dead and is working on their follow-up EP, The Deep and will be releasing a single in October, produced by dUg Pinnick of King’s X and Bill Metoyer. Most recently, the remaining members of SOUND BARRIER have regrouped for a reunion, with the help of Spacey T’s longtime friend & fan TOM MORELLO of Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage, The Nightwatchman, and Audio Slave. Tom signed them to his Firebrand Records label, releasing I’m Just A Man on Itunes and all digital outlets.
