Tany Ling is a teacher, conductor, and classically trained soprano whose genre-hopping performance career in opera, rock, new/experimental/microtonal music, and big band has spanned over two decades. She has toured North America and Europe with the rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra, big bandIndustrial Jazz Group, opera companies, and prize-winning choirs, and has been a featured soloist on stages including Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall. In Los Angeles, she is active in the new music (Accordant Commons, 18 Squared) and art/music scenes, and works extensively with artist and composer Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs, including conducting Community Chorus, a resistance-themed drop-in chorus and performing group. In the studio, she worked with composer James Horner on James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar. Ms. Ling graduated cum laude from U.C. Irvine with a B.M. in Vocal Performance and from California Institute of the Arts with a MFA in Vocal Performance. She has been a voice and music teacher since 2001.
